Watercolors By Diane Matsakis

Diane sold her first works from a small shop in the town of Newquay, Cornwall, England.

Seascapes reflecting the rugged coastline and peaceful fishing villages of Cornwall are present in her works as are the hills and moorlands that she grew up amongst in northern England.

Her painting technique is a departure from that of traditional watercolorists. Diane uses a heavy rendering of pigment to achieve almost photographically realistic fine detail.

Although she enjoys frequent visits back home and relishes the chance to recreate an image of England, she also finds inspiration from her second home in the picturesque Hudson Valley.
